“Beach Hibiscus a work from my ‘Seaburbia’ series exploring the cultural memory and heritage of the quintessential Australian beach house. Patterned and layered in acrylic and oil, the work achieves a weatherworn texture recalling the erosion of matter over time and the exquisite residues of nostalgia and decay. Composed from my own photographs, reminiscing retro color I am documenting the essence of coastal living lost to time and development and the value of a more simple way of life.

Sensational! I love the way Susan captures the essence of the Australian beach houses of the ’50s and ’60s which are in stark contrast to most of the holiday house we see today. Susan’s invite us to relax and enjoy the moment. I’m a big fan!
