This piece, “La Extincion Del Simbolo Nacional (Extinction of Our National Symbol),” is one of 30 drawings in Veronica Villarreal’s series titled “Osseous.” In the series, Villarreal explores the anatomy of animals and addresses the question of what these species might look like in the future. Villarreal seeks to bring awareness to hunting, the black market, and the meat industry with her drawings.

“We are slowly eliminating all the beauty in our animals, and if we keep doing so, all that will be left will be bones,” says Villarreal.
