<p>“Beach Hibiscus a work from my ‘Seaburbia’ series exploring the cultural memory and heritage of the quintessential Australian beach house. Patterned and layered in acrylic and oil, the work achieves a weatherworn texture recalling the erosion of matter over time and the exquisite residues of nostalgia and decay. Composed from my own photographs, reminiscing retro color I am documenting the essence of coastal living lost to time and development and the value of a more simple way of life.</p>
<p>Susan Schmidt is a fine arts painter and graphic designer making the transition from award-winning illustrator to fine artist painting at an easel while raising a young family. Schmidt has exhibited her works nationally since 1998 in solo and selected exhibitions and since 2012 internationally in New York, Hong Kong and Istanbul; Susan Schmidt currently resides in Noosa Heads, Australia.</p>
